Lake Shafer Resort Check in Information 
Terms & Conditions 

We are glad that you chose to stay with us, and we look forward to you enjoying yourself during your visit.  To make your stay safe and enjoyable, we ask that you read the information before arrival. These conditions are enforced for your safety and enjoyment, as well as that of our other guests. Please share this information with others in your party. Parking:  On-site parking is available for regular-sized vehicles.  Oversized RVs or vehicles with trailers can use the free lot of Indiana Beach at the top of the street.  Be courteous when parking, and don’t block other guests’ vehicles, or park in multiple spots.  Cars and the contents are left at the customer’s risk.  We do not accept responsibility for loss or damage, however caused.  Please let us know make/model/plate number when you arrive. 

Units:  Motel units 1-6 are located in the building to the left, at the front of the property. Cottages 7,8 and 9 are located off the parking lot level.  Units 10 and 11 are located halfway down the stairs going towards the lake.  11 is on the front side of the building to the left and can be accessed from the walkway past unit 10.  Our cottage 12 is located all the way down the stairs towards the lake and is a stand-alone unit.   

Check In/Out: Check in time is 3:00pm.  Early check-in requests may be granted based on availability.  Check out time is at 11am.  Late check out requests are based on availability and may be granted for a $40 fee and extend your departure time to 2pm. Preauthorization for incidentals/damage: Units will be charged $50 for incidentals that will be refunded at departure. Credit cards information will be held and charged based on any damage to unit or property by guests upon departure. 

Misc. Fees: Missing or damaged items will be charged to guests at the current replacement value. Extra fees may be charged for pet or special cleaning.  We reserve the right and you hereby authorize us to charge your credit/debit card for any damage incurred to your room or property during your stay. 
Room charges:  Totals listed are for room charges only and don’t include any extra check out, pet or damage fees. 

Minimum Age:   We require that you are at least 21 years of age to check into the property.  There must be at least one adult of 21 or older in the unit. Photo ID required at check in. Children must be supervised by an adult while on the property. 

Guest Count and registered guests: The number of guests per room is to be listed on the reservation and not to exceed the maximum number allowed per unit.  Additional guests are not to be allowed to stay in the unit, and your reservation could be terminated with no refund. 

Rates:  Rate quotes are based on unit, length of stay and dates.  All prices and deposits are subject to change at any time. 

Cancellations: We reserve the right to cancel or modify a reservation for any fraudulent activity engaged in by the customer.   

Smoking: There is no smoking or vaping in any of our rooms/cottages, pool area or store.  The remaining outdoor areas are okay to smoke in.  Be respectful of the dock area when other guests are sharing the space. Children and pets share our property, so be sure to place cigarette butts in ashtrays located around the property. Cleaning fee of $250 will be charged for smoking in units.

Illegal Substances: Any illegal substance in the state of Indiana is prohibited on the property and cannot be used at the resort.  If this is observed, your reservation will be immediately cancelled with no refund, and a cleaning fee could also apply. 

Prohibited Items: We are watching out for your safety and that of our other guests, therefore, no weapons or fireworks are allowed on the property or used at this location.  Possible reservation cancellation can occur with no refund. 

Conduct: Guest are required to conduct themselves appropriately and to comply with resort policies, and have respect for the property, employees, and other guests. Guests are not to disrupt other guests, the operation of the resort, or offend guests or staff. No outdoor speakers are to be used by the guests, as it may disturb other guests or our neighbors.  We reserve the right to refuse accommodation or remove you or members of your party, if we feel this conduct is not being upheld. There will be no refund for lost reservation, or any other costs incurred.  We want you to enjoy the facilities but need to be quiet on the property from 10:30pm-8:00am.

Pool: The pool is open from 9:00am to 11:00pm.  The pool does not have a lifeguard on duty, and you swim at your own risk.  Children are not to be in the pool area unattended.  No glass is allowed in the pool area.  Cottages are equipped with plastic cups to be used outside.  Gate latch on pool gate needs to be closed upon entering and leaving the pool. 
Facility Amenities- The resort has pool, dock, grill, pet and firepit areas to be used by resort guests only.  These are to be used at your own risk.  Children are not to be unattended on the property.  The resort will not be held responsible for any injuries or accidents.  Guests assume responsibility and liability associated with using any of the facilities on the property. 

Pets:  Dogs are allowed upon request and availability.  A dog fee of $25 per stay per dog will be charged.  Any damage caused by animals may incur other misc. cleaning charges.  Dogs must remain on leash when on property. You must pick up after your dog.  Dogs are not allowed in pool area or store.  Dogs must be well behaved and have current rabies tag. Service animals are accepted with prior notification.   

Liability:  The resort accepts no liability and will not pay any compensation on reservations or services as a result of any circumstance beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to, flood, earthquake, power outages, extreme weather conditions, natural disasters, terrorism fire or other acts of God. The resort will not be liable for any economic loss.  Resort liability shall not exceed the value of charges.

Loss or Damage: The resort will not be responsible for loss or damage of any property left at the resort.
